Everbuild Roof And Gutter Sealant 295ml

Everbuild Roof And Gutter Sealant 295ml is a premium-quality, butyl-based sealant and adhesive formulated for exterior roofing and guttering applications. It provides immediate weatherproofing and adheres to an extensive range of common roofing materials, including roofing felt, bitumen, asphalt, lead, zinc, steel, concrete, masonry and wood.

The sealant can be applied in wet conditions and even during heavy rain, making it a practical product for urgent roof and gutter repairs when completely dry weather is unavailable. Its high-solids formulation fills gaps effectively without shrinking, while added polymers improve adhesion to suitable building surfaces.

Unlike a conventional fully curing silicone or hybrid sealant, Everbuild Roof and Gutter Sealant is semi-drying. It develops a surface skin but remains permanently plastic beneath it. This allows the product to retain its sealing properties as roofing materials experience normal thermal movement and weather exposure.

Instant Exterior Weatherproofing

The sealant begins providing weather protection immediately after application. This makes it useful for sealing leaks, bedding roofing components and completing maintenance work in changeable weather conditions.

It is particularly suited to traditional roofing materials and details where a black sealant will blend naturally with felt, bitumen and dark guttering. Its thixotropic paste consistency helps it remain in place after application and allows it to bridge cracks and irregular gaps without running excessively.

Although the product can be applied to wet surfaces, those surfaces must still be clean, stable and free from contamination. Loose dirt, algae, grease and deteriorated material can prevent the sealant from adhering directly to the intended substrate.

Suitable Roofing Materials

Everbuild Roof And Gutter Sealant bonds to many materials commonly encountered during roofing and exterior maintenance, including:

  • Roofing felt
  • Bitumen
  • Asphalt
  • Lead
  • Zinc
  • Steel
  • Concrete
  • Masonry
  • Timber and wood
  • Suitable corrugated roofing sheets

Because roofing products and surface coatings can vary, compatibility should be checked before full application. Complete a small test where the substrate or finish is unusual, sensitive or unknown.

Typical Uses

This versatile product can be used for numerous exterior sealing, bonding and repair tasks, including:

  • Filling cracks and gaps in roofing applications
  • Sealing joints in metal gutters
  • Sealing around gutter and downpipe connections
  • Bedding tiles and slates into position
  • Securing and sealing flashing
  • Sticking down loose roofing felt
  • Repairing localised splits in suitable roof coverings
  • Sealing joints between corrugated cement and metal sheets
  • Weatherproofing overlaps and laps
  • Sealing around exterior roof details

The sealant can assist with localised repairs, but it should not be used to hide extensive roof failure or replace damaged structural components. Rotten timber, severely corroded guttering and badly deteriorated roof coverings should be repaired or replaced before sealing.

High-Solids, Non-Shrinking Formula

Everbuild Roof And Gutter Sealant has a high-solids formulation that offers excellent gap-filling performance without the shrinkage associated with some lower-solids products. This helps the applied bead maintain its volume and remain in contact with the joint surfaces.

The product has relatively low movement capability and should therefore be used on joints where movement is limited. It is not intended to replace a high-movement façade sealant or flexible glazing product. Joint size, movement and exposure should be assessed before application.

Surface Preparation

For the best adhesion, surfaces must be sound and free from dust, grease, oil, loose particles and other contamination. Remove moss, algae, flaking coatings and deteriorated material. Allow new concrete or mortar adequate time to dry and mature before application.

The product can be applied to wet surfaces, but remove standing water wherever possible. Cleaning the joint thoroughly will improve contact between the sealant and the substrate.

If the sealant is being used to bond overlapping materials, complete a dry fit before application. Check that the surfaces align and can be pressed together while the sealant remains tacky.

How to Apply Everbuild Roof And Gutter Sealant

  1. Ensure the surface is sound and remove dirt, dust, grease and loose material.
  2. Cut the cartridge tip carefully without damaging the threaded section.
  3. Screw on the application nozzle.
  4. Cut the nozzle at approximately 45° to produce the required bead width.
  5. Place the cartridge into a standard sealant gun.
  6. Apply a continuous bead with sufficient material to bridge the joint.
  7. For overlapping joints, press the surfaces together while the product remains tacky.
  8. Tool the sealant as required, avoiding unnecessary smearing.
  9. Remove masking tape within approximately five minutes of application.
  10. Clean tools with turpentine or white spirit before the sealant skins.

Apply enough product to maintain continuous contact with both sides of the joint. Avoid creating thin spots or breaks that could allow water to pass through the completed repair.

Coverage

One 295ml cartridge provides approximately 10.5 linear metres when applied as a 6mm diameter bead. Actual coverage will vary according to the joint width, depth, surface condition and amount of material used for bedding or filling.

Wide gaps and uneven roofing surfaces will require more sealant. When estimating the quantity needed, allow extra material for overlaps, wastage and irregular areas.

Skin Formation and Finish

Depending on temperature and conditions, surface-skin formation can take up to seven days. Even after the skin has developed, the sealant remains permanently plastic and will continue to feel tacky beneath or at the surface.

Because the product remains tacky, it should not be used where people, clothing or loose materials are likely to touch the finished bead. Dust and dirt may also collect on exposed sealant over time.

The black finish is designed to complement common roofing materials rather than provide a decorative interior joint. The product should not be used internally.

Temperature Performance

The recommended application-temperature range is approximately +2°C to +40°C. Its stated service-temperature range after application is approximately -15°C to +75°C.

Temperature can affect the product’s consistency, adhesion and skin-formation time. In cold conditions, the cartridge may be more difficult to dispense. Store the product at the recommended temperature before use and never heat it using a naked flame or unsafe direct heat source.

Important Limitations

Everbuild Roof And Gutter Sealant is formulated for external roofing applications and should not be used indoors. It is unsuitable for glass-to-glass sealing and should not be applied to white PVCu, where an alternative compatible sealant should be selected.

The product must not be used in situations involving permanent water immersion. It is suitable for exposed roofing and guttering applications but is not designed for fishponds, water tanks or continuously submerged joints.

Because it remains tacky, avoid using it on areas where physical surface contact is likely. It should also not be used for high-movement expansion joints, structural bonding or safety-critical installations without specific technical approval.

Storage and Safe Handling

Store the unopened cartridge between approximately 15°C and 20°C, away from direct sunlight, heat and sources of ignition. When stored correctly, the product should be used within 24 months of its manufacturing date.

Wear suitable gloves and eye protection, avoid skin and eye contact and use the sealant in accordance with the current safety data sheet. Turpentine and white spirit used for cleaning are flammable and must also be handled safely.
