Everbuild Mitre Fast Bonding Kit
Everbuild Mitre Fast Bonding Kit is a professional two-part instant adhesive system developed for rapid assembly and repair work. The kit combines a high-viscosity cyanoacrylate adhesive with an aerosol activator, allowing most compatible surfaces to be bonded within approximately 10 seconds.
Designed primarily for the furniture, timber, kitchen-fitting and plastics industries, Mitre Fast considerably reduces the time required to assemble mitred joints when compared with conventional wood adhesives. It is particularly useful for joining cornices, pelmets, skirting boards, architraves, profiles, trims and picture frames where components must be positioned and secured quickly.
The standard kit contains a 50g bottle of high-strength adhesive and a 200ml aerosol activator. Both components are applied separately before the surfaces are brought together, creating a fast and dependable bond without lengthy clamping or waiting times.
What Is Included?
- 1 x Everbuild Mitre Fast high-viscosity adhesive – 50g
- 1 x Everbuild Mitre Fast aerosol activator – 200ml
The adhesive and activator are designed to work together. The adhesive provides the strength, while the activator accelerates its curing process. The activator is not an adhesive and will not create a bond if used on its own.
Bonds in Approximately 10 Seconds
Everbuild Mitre Fast is formulated to bond most compatible surfaces within approximately 10 seconds. This flash-setting performance can significantly increase productivity during repetitive assembly work and on projects where holding or clamping components for extended periods would be inconvenient.
The rapid cure is particularly beneficial when assembling mitred corners. Once the joint has been accurately cut and dry-fitted, the adhesive and activator can be applied to opposing surfaces. The parts are then brought together and held firmly while the bond develops.
Actual setting time can vary depending on the materials, application temperature, joint fit, adhesive quantity and working conditions. Although the initial bond develops very quickly, avoid placing the joint under unnecessary stress immediately after assembly.
High-Viscosity Adhesive
The Mitre Fast adhesive has a higher viscosity than many conventional cyanoacrylate glues. This thicker consistency helps reduce excessive absorption when working with porous materials such as wood and MDF. Keeping more adhesive around the bond line helps produce a strong connection while also improving control during application.
The high-viscosity formula also provides limited gap-filling capability. It can fill small gaps measuring up to approximately 0.2mm, making it suitable for mitred joints with very minor imperfections. However, the product is not intended to fill large spaces or compensate for poorly cut and loosely fitting components.
Suitable Materials
Everbuild Mitre Fast can be used to bond an extensive selection of compatible materials, including:
- Wood
- MDF
- Chipboard
- Rubber
- Perspex
- PVCu
- Ceramics
- Aluminium
- Various metals
- Many compatible plastics
Its broad compatibility makes it suitable for numerous professional and domestic applications. Some plastics and surface coatings can be difficult to bond or may react with cyanoacrylate adhesive, so a test on an inconspicuous area is recommended before beginning the full installation.
Typical Applications
The Everbuild Mitre Fast Bonding Kit is ideal for jobs where speed, accuracy and a clean finish are important. Common uses include:
- Joining skirting-board mitres
- Assembling architrave joints
- Bonding cornices and decorative profiles
- Joining kitchen pelmets and plinth details
- Assembling picture frames
- Securing worktop end strips
- Attaching PVCu trims and profiles
- Furniture and cabinet assembly
- Bonding MDF and chipboard components
- Completing shopfitting and exhibition work
- Electronics and production-line assembly
- Carrying out fast workshop and on-site repairs
The bonding system is particularly valuable for finish carpentry and second-fix joinery. It allows decorative components to be secured almost instantly, reducing the need for visible pins or temporary supports in suitable applications.
Preparing the Joint
Correct preparation is essential because the adhesive bonds extremely quickly. Both surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from dust, oil, grease, polish, loose material and other contamination. Remove any weak or poorly attached coatings that could separate from the underlying material.
Cut mitred joints accurately and complete a dry fit before applying either component. Check the alignment and ensure the surfaces meet as closely as possible. Once the activated joint is brought together, there will be very little time to make adjustments.
Protect surrounding finished surfaces against overspray and accidental adhesive spills. The activator may affect certain paints, plastics or decorative coatings, so always test it on a hidden section when compatibility is uncertain.
How to Use Everbuild Mitre Fast
- Make sure both surfaces are clean, dry and ready for bonding.
- Dry-fit the components and confirm the final position.
- Apply a small, controlled amount of adhesive to one surface.
- Spray the aerosol activator lightly and evenly onto the opposing surface.
- Allow the activator solvent to evaporate as directed on the packaging.
- Bring both surfaces together immediately and align them accurately.
- Apply firm, even pressure for approximately 10 seconds.
- Avoid disturbing or heavily loading the joint immediately after bonding.
- Clean the adhesive nozzle and securely replace both caps after use.
Do not apply excessive adhesive. A thin and controlled layer normally produces a better bond than a large quantity. Too much product can spread beyond the joint, leave visible residue or slow the curing process.
Important Application Advice
Apply the adhesive and activator to separate surfaces. Spraying the activator directly onto wet adhesive can cause it to cure before the components are correctly positioned. Never attempt to reposition the parts by force after the bond has formed, as this may damage the surfaces.
The product should not be relied upon to bridge gaps greater than approximately 0.2mm. Poorly fitting joints should be recut or repaired using a suitable gap-filling product before assembly.
Everbuild Mitre Fast is intended for small, close-fitting joints. It should not be used as the sole fixing for structural, load-bearing, overhead or safety-critical components unless the application has been specifically approved. Use appropriate mechanical fixings whenever required.
Working Temperature
The cured adhesive has a stated working-temperature range of approximately -20°C to +80°C. Suitability will depend on the bonded materials, joint design and conditions of use. Extreme temperatures, continuous moisture exposure, movement or repeated impact may affect the completed joint.
Safety and Storage
Cyanoacrylate adhesive bonds skin and eyes in seconds. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing, and keep the kit out of the reach of children. Work in a well-ventilated location and wear suitable eye and hand protection in accordance with the current product label and safety data sheet.
The activator is supplied in a pressurised aerosol and is extremely flammable. Keep it away from heat, sparks, hot surfaces, naked flames and other ignition sources. Do not smoke while using the product, and do not pierce or burn the aerosol container even when empty.
Store both components upright in a cool, dry and well-ventilated location, protected from direct sunlight and excessive temperatures. Ensure the caps are fitted securely to prevent evaporation, contamination and blocked nozzles.
