Resiblock Superior Gloss Block Paving Sealer is a professional-grade, urethane-based treatment that seals and protects concrete block paving while stabilising the jointing sand. Its colour-enhancing formula creates a rich, glossy wet-look finish that brings out the natural tones of the blocks and helps maintain the appearance and structural integrity of the paved surface.
Suitable for driveways, patios, paths, parking areas and other compatible block-paved surfaces, Resiblock Superior Gloss combines decorative enhancement with high-performance protection. It helps resist the penetration of oil, fuel, water, food, drink and everyday dirt while binding the sand within the joints to reduce erosion, movement and maintenance.
The product is applied as a two-coat system. The first coat penetrates the blocks and jointing sand, while the second strengthens the protective treatment and develops the characteristic gloss finish. Once correctly applied, the area can normally return to full use within approximately 24 hours.
Glossy Wet-Look Finish
Resiblock Superior Gloss is designed for customers who want to deepen the colour of their block paving and create a distinctive wet-look appearance. It enhances faded and weathered blocks, helping restore stronger colours and increased visual contrast.
The final degree of gloss and colour enhancement depends on the type, age, texture and porosity of the blocks. Highly porous or weathered paving may absorb more of the first coat, while smoother blocks may retain more product near the surface and produce a more pronounced sheen.
Always apply the sealer to a small, inconspicuous test area before treating the complete surface. Allow the full two-coat test system to cure before assessing the result. The colour change created by an enhancing sealer may be permanent and cannot always be reversed easily.
Jointing-Sand Stabilisation
Jointing sand is an essential part of a flexible block-paving system. It helps transfer loads between adjacent blocks and contributes to the stability of the completed surface. Rain, sweeping, vehicle movement and pressure washing can gradually remove loose sand, leaving partially empty joints.
Resiblock Superior Gloss penetrates and binds the particles of jointing sand together. This stabilisation helps prevent washout, reduces the amount of sand lost during cleaning and supports the structural integrity of the paving.
Stabilising the joints can reduce the risk of individual blocks becoming loose or moving under regular traffic. It may also help limit rutting caused by the gradual loss of jointing material. The paving must still be properly installed and compacted, as the sealer cannot correct an inadequate sub-base or failed laying course.
Helps Prevent Weed Growth
By binding the sand within the joints, Resiblock Superior Gloss helps inhibit weed and grass growth from below. It also makes it more difficult for new airborne seeds to become established within loose jointing material.
The product will not kill existing weeds or remove established root systems. All vegetation, moss, algae, soil and organic debris must be treated and removed before the area is sealed. Poor drainage and dirt allowed to accumulate over the paving may still support surface growth, so occasional maintenance remains necessary.
Protection Against Oil and Water
The urethane-based treatment provides strong resistance to oil and water infiltration. This is particularly valuable on driveways and parking areas, where vehicle leaks can otherwise penetrate porous blocks and leave difficult stains.
It also helps protect patios from food, drink, cooking oil and grease. Sealed paving is generally easier to clean because spills are less able to soak immediately into the surface.
No sealer should be considered completely stain-proof. Oil, fuel, food, drink and chemical spills should be absorbed and cleaned promptly. The product also has a high degree of resistance to many commercial chemicals and is unaffected by de-icing salts, but compatibility should be checked before using strong cleaning agents.

This product is intended primarily for block paving. It should not be applied to natural stone, porcelain, pattern-imprinted concrete, paving flags or other materials unless Resiblock has specifically confirmed compatibility.
Preparing Existing Block Paving
The surface must be thoroughly clean and completely dry. Remove weeds, moss, algae, dirt, tyre marks, oil and all other contamination. Pressure washing can be used where appropriate, but sufficient drying time must be allowed afterwards.
Any oil or fuel staining should be treated with Resiblock Oil Remover before sealing. Applying a glossy sealer over remaining stains may make them more noticeable and could affect adhesion.
Inspect the paving for sunken areas, loose blocks, failed edge restraints or drainage problems. Complete all necessary repairs before applying the sealer. Resiblock Superior Gloss protects and stabilises correctly installed paving; it will not repair structural defects.
Once the blocks are clean and dry, fill the joints with clean kiln-dried jointing sand. Compact and top up the sand as necessary. Sweep away every trace of loose sand from the block faces and chamfered edges. Sand left on the surface can become permanently trapped within the coating.
Preparing New Paving
Newly laid paving should be allowed to settle and release any natural efflorescence before sealing. The appropriate waiting period depends on the blocks, installation materials and site conditions. Follow Resiblock’s current guidance rather than sealing immediately after installation.
The paving must be correctly compacted, fully jointed and completely dry. Remove cement, installation residue, efflorescence and other contamination using products and methods approved for the block type.
Application Conditions
Apply Resiblock Superior Gloss only in dry weather when the surface and jointing sand are completely dry. The recommended application temperature is between 3°C and 30°C, and there should be no risk of rain for at least 12 hours.
Do not apply during frost, heavy dew, high humidity or on paving that is still retaining moisture. Trapped water can interfere with curing and cause clouding or other appearance defects.
Strong sunlight and high surface temperatures may cause the product to cure too quickly. Plan the application carefully and work in manageable sections while maintaining a consistent wet edge.
Applying the First Coat
Apply the first coat generously and evenly using a suitable Resiblock ResiRoller. The product must penetrate the paving and jointing sand without forming puddles or heavy accumulations.
Start at the furthest point and work towards the exit so there is no need to walk across the freshly sealed surface. Apply consistently across complete sections and avoid stopping halfway across a highly visible area.
The expected coverage for the first coat is approximately 3m² per litre. Porous, aged or wide-jointed paving may require more product. Coverage figures are estimates, so a site trial is recommended.
Applying the Second Coat
The second coat must be applied at least three hours and no more than 24 hours after the first coat. This application completes the protective system and helps develop the full gloss finish.
Coverage for the second coat is approximately 6m² per litre because the first coat has already reduced the absorbency of the paving. Apply evenly and avoid overloading the surface, as pooling can create inconsistent gloss or extend the curing time.
If the maximum 24-hour recoating period is exceeded, obtain advice from Resiblock before continuing. Applying the next coat outside the approved window may affect intercoat adhesion.
Coverage
Allow approximately 3m² per litre for the first coat and 6m² per litre for the second. When the full two-coat system is calculated, one litre completes approximately 2m² of paving.
As a general guide, a 5-litre container completes approximately 10m², while a 25-litre container completes approximately 50m². Actual usage depends on block porosity, surface texture, joint width and the condition of the paving.
Measure the complete area and make sure sufficient product is available before beginning. Stopping part-way through an application may lead to visible differences in colour or gloss.
Drying and Reuse Times
Avoid foot traffic for at least three hours after application. Keep vehicles off the completed surface for up to 24 hours. The area can normally return to full use within approximately 24 hours of the final coat when conditions are suitable.
Lower temperatures and higher humidity can extend drying times. Do not allow traffic onto the surface until the coating is fully dry and firm.

Safety, Cleaning and Storage
Resiblock Superior Gloss is a solvent-based, flammable product. Keep it away from smoking, naked flames, sparks, heaters and other ignition sources. Ensure adequate ventilation and wear suitable chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing and eye or face protection. Appropriate respiratory protection may be required when working close to the surface or in confined areas.
Clean uncured material from application equipment immediately using Resiblock ResiClean. Do not use solvent cleaner on the skin. Do not return unused sealer to the original container, and do not reseal or store partly used containers because pressure may develop inside.
