C-Tec Superfast Plus Activator
C-Tec Superfast Plus Activator is a specially formulated aerosol treatment designed to improve the performance of C-Tec Superfast Plus Adhesive when bonding porous, absorbent or difficult materials. It helps seal the surface and accelerate the curing process, allowing the cyanoacrylate adhesive to develop a fast, dependable bond where an untreated porous material might otherwise absorb the liquid adhesive.
The activator is particularly useful when working with materials such as wood, leather and stone. These surfaces can draw adhesive into their pores before a complete bond has time to form. By treating the appropriate surface with C-Tec Superfast Plus Activator first, the adhesive remains concentrated around the joint and can cure more effectively when the components are brought together.
This product is an activator rather than a standalone adhesive. It must be used alongside C-Tec Superfast Plus Adhesive to complete the bonding process. Together, the two products provide a convenient system for fast repairs, installation work, fabrication and general assembly tasks involving porous or absorbent materials.
Improves Bonding on Porous Surfaces
Cyanoacrylate adhesives are designed to form extremely fast bonds between closely fitting surfaces. They perform particularly well on many smooth and non-porous materials, but untreated absorbent surfaces can present a challenge. The adhesive may soak into wood, stone or leather, reducing the amount remaining at the bond line and potentially preventing a reliable connection.
C-Tec Superfast Plus Activator helps overcome this problem by sealing the porous surface before the adhesive is applied. This gives the Superfast Plus Adhesive a more suitable area on which to cure. The result is a quicker, more consistent bonding process and a stronger connection between compatible materials.
Suitable Applications
The activator can be used for a wide range of professional, trade and DIY applications. It is suitable for repairs, maintenance work, component assembly, joinery, model making and other projects involving compatible porous materials. Typical uses may include bonding wooden components, repairing leather items, attaching small fittings to stone and joining porous materials to suitable non-porous surfaces.
It is especially valuable in workshops and on-site environments where speed and accuracy are important. The aerosol format provides quick, even coverage over the required area, while its fast evaporation allows the Superfast Plus Adhesive to be applied shortly afterwards.
Before starting work, always confirm that both materials are compatible with the complete Superfast Plus system. Complete a test on an inconspicuous section if there is any uncertainty about surface appearance, discolouration or long-term suitability.
Key Benefits
- Developed specifically for use with C-Tec Superfast Plus Adhesive.
- Helps seal porous materials before bonding.
- Suitable for materials including wood, leather and stone.
- Accelerates the curing action of cyanoacrylate adhesive.
- Helps achieve faster and more dependable bonds.
- Easy-to-apply aerosol for controlled surface coverage.
- Useful for professional, industrial, trade and DIY applications.
- Reduces the risk of adhesive being absorbed into porous surfaces.
Surface Preparation
Correct preparation is essential for achieving an effective bond. The surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust, grease, oil, loose material and other contamination. Remove dirt with a suitable cleaning method and allow the area to dry fully before applying the activator.
Loose or friable material should be removed because the completed bond will only be as strong as the surface beneath it. Where appropriate, lightly abrading a surface may help remove weak material and provide a consistent bonding area. All resulting dust must be cleared before the activator is sprayed.
Check the fit and alignment of the components before application. Superfast Plus Adhesive bonds rapidly after the treated and adhesive-coated surfaces are brought together, so there may be very little opportunity to reposition the parts.
How to Use C-Tec Superfast Plus Activator
- Ensure the working area is well ventilated and remove potential ignition sources.
- Clean both bonding surfaces thoroughly, removing dust, oil, grease and loose material.
- Complete a dry fit to confirm the components align and meet closely.
- Apply C-Tec Superfast Plus Activator to the porous or absorbent surface.
- Allow the sprayed activator to evaporate as directed on the product packaging.
- Apply a small, controlled quantity of C-Tec Superfast Plus Adhesive to the appropriate surface.
- Bring the components together immediately and align them accurately.
- Hold the joint firmly in position until the initial bond has formed.
- Allow the completed bond sufficient time to cure before placing it under load.
A small and carefully controlled amount of adhesive is normally more effective than excessive application. Too much adhesive may spread beyond the joint, leave visible residue or interfere with the curing process. Always follow the current instructions provided with both the activator and adhesive.
Important Limitations
C-Tec Superfast Plus Activator does not provide a bond when used alone. It prepares the surface and accelerates the curing of the accompanying cyanoacrylate adhesive. It should not be mistaken for a spray adhesive, primer for paint or general-purpose surface sealer.
The completed bonding system is generally most effective on small, close-fitting components. It is not intended to fill large gaps or replace a flexible construction adhesive in joints exposed to continuous movement, heavy vibration or repeated impact. Some materials may become stained, marked or discoloured, so testing before full application is recommended.
Do not use the system on polyethylene, polypropylene or fluorine-containing plastics unless the manufacturer has confirmed compatibility. It should not be relied upon for structural, safety-critical, medical or direct food-contact applications without specific technical approval.
Safety and Storage
C-Tec Superfast Plus Activator is supplied as an aerosol and is highly flammable. Keep it away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, naked flames and other ignition sources. Do not smoke while using the product, and never spray it onto an open flame or hot surface. Do not pierce or burn the container, even after use.
Apply the activator only in a well-ventilated location and avoid breathing the spray or vapour. Wear suitable eye protection and other personal protective equipment in accordance with the product label and current safety data sheet. Keep out of the reach of children.
Store the container upright in a cool, dry and ventilated area, protected from direct sunlight. Do not expose the aerosol to temperatures above 50°C. Always read the manufacturer’s current safety and application information before use.
A Complete Fast-Bonding System
C-Tec Superfast Plus Activator is the ideal companion to C-Tec Superfast Plus Adhesive when working with porous materials. By sealing absorbent surfaces and accelerating the adhesive’s curing action, it helps produce quick, consistent and exceptionally strong bonds. Its convenient aerosol application makes it an invaluable product for fast repairs and accurate assembly work involving wood, stone, leather and other suitable porous surfaces.
