Sika Forever White Silicone Sealant 295ml

Sika Forever White Silicone Sealant 295ml is a premium sanitary silicone formulated to create a flexible, waterproof and hygienic seal in bathrooms, kitchens and other areas exposed to moisture. Its clean white finish makes it an excellent choice for sealing around baths, shower trays, washbasins, sinks, sanitary fittings and suitable kitchen worktops. Supplied in a convenient 295ml cartridge, the sealant can be applied using a standard cartridge gun and is suitable for professional tradespeople as well as experienced DIY users.

One of the principal benefits of Sika Forever White Silicone Sealant is its resistance to mould growth and discolouration. The product incorporates advanced mould-protection technology designed to help the cured seal remain clean and attractive in warm, humid environments. Sika reports mould resistance lasting for up to ten years under simulated ageing conditions. Actual performance will depend on correct application, ventilation, cleaning routines, environmental conditions and ongoing maintenance.

Designed for bathrooms and kitchens

Bathrooms and kitchens place considerable demands on a sealant. Regular exposure to water, steam, temperature changes and cleaning products can cause unsuitable materials to deteriorate or become discoloured. Sika Forever White Silicone Sealant forms a durable, water-resistant barrier that helps prevent moisture from passing through gaps around fixtures and adjoining surfaces.

Typical applications include perimeter sealing around baths and shower trays, sealing joints around washbasins and sinks, finishing connections between sanitary ware and tiled walls, and sealing suitable joints around kitchen worktops. Its bright white colour complements many ceramic tiles, bathroom suites, sinks and appliances, producing a neat and professional-looking finish.

Flexible, durable performance

Once cured, this sanitary silicone remains permanently flexible. That flexibility allows the seal to accommodate limited movement caused by temperature changes, vibration and normal expansion or contraction between adjoining materials. This is particularly useful where a bath, shower tray, basin or worktop may move slightly during everyday use.

The sealant offers strong adhesion to many common non-porous building materials, including glass, glazed ceramic tiles and sanitary ceramics. Surface suitability should always be checked before application, particularly when working with plastics, coated metals, acrylic sanitary ware or unfamiliar materials. A small adhesion test in an inconspicuous area is advisable where compatibility is uncertain.

Application guidance

For the best results, all surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust, grease, soap residue, loose material and old sealant. Existing silicone should be removed completely because fresh silicone generally does not bond reliably to cured silicone. Clean the joint with an appropriate preparation product and allow the area to dry thoroughly before starting work.

Cut the cartridge nozzle to provide an opening suited to the required joint width. Fit the cartridge into a compatible sealant gun and apply the silicone in a steady, continuous bead, ensuring good contact with both sides of the joint. Tool the sealant promptly with an appropriate finishing tool to create a smooth surface and remove any excess before a skin forms. Masking tape can be applied along the joint edges and removed immediately after tooling to produce particularly crisp lines.

The approximate curing rate is 2–3mm in 24 hours at 23°C and 50% relative humidity, although cooler temperatures, low humidity or deeper joints can extend the curing time. Avoid exposing the newly applied sealant to water for at least 24 hours and allow sufficient time for the bead to cure fully before putting the area back into regular service.

Important limitations

Sika Forever White Silicone Sealant is primarily intended for sanitary sealing applications and should not automatically be used as a general-purpose adhesive. It is not paintable, so the correct sealant colour should be selected before work begins. It may also be unsuitable for some natural stone, porous masonry, bituminous materials, aquariums, food-contact areas or structural glazing applications.

Some plastics, mirrors, sensitive metals and specialist surface coatings may require a different type of silicone or a compatible primer. Always consult the current Sika product data sheet and test compatibility before use on unusual, valuable or delicate surfaces. Adequate ventilation should be provided during application and curing, and uncured sealant should be kept away from skin and eyes.

Maintaining the finished seal

Although the formulation provides effective mould resistance, good ventilation and routine cleaning remain important. Standing water, soap deposits and poor air circulation can encourage surface contamination on any bathroom seal. Wipe sealed areas regularly with a suitable non-abrasive cleaner and address damaged, loose or separated sections promptly. Avoid harsh scrubbing tools that could scratch or weaken the silicone surface.
