CT1 Sealant & Construction Adhesive
CT1 Sealant & Construction Adhesive is a professional, multi-purpose solution for bonding, sealing, fixing and repairing an extensive range of building materials. Manufactured using advanced TRIBRID® polymer technology, CT1 combines the flexibility of a sealant with the strength of a construction adhesive, helping reduce the number of separate products required for everyday installation and maintenance work.
Suitable for both interior and exterior applications, CT1 can be applied to dry, damp or wet surfaces and will even work underwater. This makes it particularly useful when conditions do not allow a surface to be dried completely before work begins. Its powerful adhesion and lasting flexibility make it suitable for use by builders, plumbers, roofers, joiners, bathroom installers, maintenance engineers and experienced DIY users.
Advanced TRIBRID® Technology
CT1 is manufactured using C-Tec’s TRIBRID® Technology, a high-performance polymer formulation developed to provide greater strength, flexibility and colour stability than conventional hybrid polymer products. According to the manufacturer, CT1 is 360% stronger than a traditional hybrid polymer.
The formulation provides excellent colour retention, helping white CT1 remain white and clear CT1 remain clear under normal service conditions. This makes it suitable for both functional construction work and visible finishing applications where the final appearance matters.
CT1 is free from solvents and isocyanates. It does not shrink as a result of solvent evaporation and remains flexible after curing, allowing it to accommodate normal movement between compatible building materials.
Bonds an Extensive Range of Materials
One of the primary advantages of CT1 is its broad material compatibility. It adheres to most commonly encountered construction and finishing materials, allowing one cartridge to complete a wide variety of tasks.

CT1 can be used to secure panels, trims, boards, splashbacks, worktops, tiles, mirrors, mouldings and numerous other components. It can also seal joints and gaps around building materials, sanitary fittings, roofs, gutters, windows and exterior details. Compatibility should always be tested when working with an unfamiliar material or specialist surface coating.
Works in Wet Conditions and Underwater
Unlike many conventional adhesives and sealants, CT1 can bond and seal in wet conditions. It can be applied to damp surfaces and can even be used underwater, making it a practical option for emergency repairs and applications where removing all moisture is difficult.
This capability is useful for plumbing, bathrooms, showers, roofing, drainage, marine environments and exterior maintenance. The surface should still be made as clean and sound as possible before application. Dirt, grease, algae, loose coatings and unstable material can prevent the adhesive from making direct contact with the intended substrate.
Although CT1 can be applied underwater, the intended repair and the condition of the surface should be assessed carefully. Safety-critical or permanently submerged applications may require additional technical approval or a specialist repair method.
Sealing and Repairing
CT1 cures to form a tough but flexible seal, helping it accommodate movement and vibration between different materials. It can be used to seal joints, gaps and connections where a waterproof and weather-resistant finish is required.
Typical sealing applications include joints around sanitary fittings, shower trays, windows, doors, gutters, roof details and external building components. It can also be used for many general maintenance repairs where strong adhesion and lasting flexibility are needed.
Its resistance to weathering, vibration, water, seawater, oils, greases and various chemicals makes it suitable for demanding environments. However, prolonged exposure to strong acids or alkalis should be avoided unless technical suitability has been confirmed.
Suitable for Natural Stone and Mirrors
CT1 can bond most natural stones without causing staining or product bleed-through. This makes it useful when installing or repairing suitable stone features, tiles and decorative elements. Because different stones and finishes can vary considerably, a small test application is recommended before completing the full installation.
CT1 can also be used with suitable mirrors. When fixing a mirror, apply the adhesive in vertical strips to allow ventilation and moisture movement behind the surface. It is not suitable for polypropylene-backed mirrors, and users should check the mirror manufacturer’s instructions before application.
How to Apply CT1
- Ensure the surface is sound and remove dust, grease, oil and loose material.
- Where possible, clean and degrease the surface before application.
- Cut the cartridge nose carefully without damaging the threaded section.
- Screw on the nozzle and cut it to the required bead size.
- Place the cartridge into a suitable sealant or mastic gun.
- Apply CT1 as a continuous bead, in strips or as appropriate for the application.
- Position bonded components before the product begins curing.
- Tool sealing joints to the required profile using a compatible finishing product.
- Provide temporary support for heavy components when necessary.
- Allow the product to cure before placing the joint under full load.
When using CT1 as an adhesive, the amount and pattern required will depend on the weight of the component, substrate condition and joint design. Heavy or overhead items may require temporary mechanical support while curing. Safety-critical installations may also require permanent mechanical fixings.
Surface Preparation
CT1 adheres to many surfaces without a primer, but proper preparation remains essential. Surfaces should be strong enough to support the intended load and free from loose coatings, crumbling material or contamination. Remove grease and oil using a suitable cleaner, taking care not to damage the substrate.
When applying CT1 to painted, coated or powder-coated surfaces, the bond will only be as strong as the coating beneath it. Check that the existing finish is securely attached and seek advice from the coating manufacturer when necessary.
Painting CT1
Once fully cured, CT1 can be painted with most common water-based paints. It is not compatible with alkyd-based paints. Because paint formulations vary, test the chosen coating over a small cured section before decorating the complete joint.
CT1 must be allowed to cure before painting. Applying paint too early can interfere with curing or cause the coating to crack as the sealant moves. Always follow the paint manufacturer’s instructions regarding flexible sealants and drying conditions.
Colours and Pack Size
CT1 is supplied in a recyclable 290ml cartridge and is available in a range of colours, including clear, white, black, grey, beige, brown, oak, blue, silver and anthracite. Availability may differ by colour and branch.
The choice of colour allows CT1 to blend with many interior and exterior finishes. Clear is ideal where a discreet joint is preferred, while white, black, grey and anthracite provide practical options for frames, trims, sanitary fittings and modern building materials.
Limitations
CT1 is not suitable for polypropylene, polyethylene or PTFE. These low-surface-energy plastics are difficult to bond with conventional construction adhesives. It is also unsuitable for polypropylene-backed mirrors.
Do not use CT1 with alkyd paints, and test it before application to sensitive plastics, coatings or specialist surfaces. Although it offers powerful adhesion, appropriate mechanical fixings should still be used where required by building regulations, the component manufacturer or the safety demands of the installation.
