Everflex Contract 125 One Hour Caulk is a fast-drying, flexible decorators’ filler and sealant designed for filling cracks and gaps before painting. Its smooth, water-based formulation is easy to apply and can be overpainted with most common paint types after approximately one hour, helping decorators, builders and DIY users complete interior finishing work efficiently.
Unlike rigid powder fillers that may crack when adjoining materials move, Everflex Contract 125 remains flexible after drying. It is particularly useful around skirting boards, architraves, door and window frames, ceiling cornices, staircases and fitted furniture, where slight movement can occur between different materials.
Overpaintable in as little as one hour
The product’s principal advantage is its fast overpainting time. Under suitable conditions, the applied caulk can be covered with most emulsion and decorative paints after approximately one hour. This reduces the waiting time between filling and decorating and makes it particularly useful for time-sensitive refurbishment projects.
The one-hour claim depends on the bead size, temperature, ventilation, humidity and porosity of the surfaces. Deep gaps, cool rooms or humid conditions can increase drying time. Always check that the surface has formed a firm skin and follow the instructions for the chosen paint before overcoating.
Some specialist or heavily filled paints may respond differently. Where compatibility is uncertain, apply the caulk and paint to a small test area first. Very thin paint coatings can occasionally show minor movement or discolouration if applied before the caulk has dried sufficiently.
Flexible gap and crack filling
Everflex Contract 125 is designed to remain permanently flexible after curing. This allows it to accommodate small amounts of movement between adjoining building materials and helps reduce the risk of a visible crack reopening immediately after decoration.

Small cracks in prepared plaster and gaps between compatible interior materials may also be filled. The background must be stable and capable of supporting the applied product. Loose plaster, flaking paint and unstable coatings should be removed rather than covered.
Compatible surfaces
The caulk adheres to many common internal building surfaces, including plaster, plasterboard, wood, brick, concrete and painted backgrounds. At least one surface should ideally be porous to support effective drying of the water-based formulation.
Surface compatibility must still be checked before use. Plastics, coated metals, glossy paint and low-porosity materials may require testing or an alternative specialist sealant. Contract 125 should not be applied over silicone because caulk will not adhere reliably to cured silicone.
Surface preparation
Correct preparation is essential for a neat and lasting repair. All surfaces must be sound, clean and free from dust, grease, oil, loose paint, old sealant and other contamination. Remove unstable material and brush or vacuum dust from the joint.
Highly porous or dusty surfaces may benefit from an appropriate diluted primer applied according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not attempt to stabilise severely weak or crumbling backgrounds using caulk alone.
Make sure the joint is reasonably dry before application. The product is not designed to seal active water ingress or continuously wet surfaces. Any underlying damp, leakage or condensation problem should be resolved before decorating.
How to apply Everflex Contract 125
Cut the cartridge seal carefully, attach the nozzle and trim it at an angle to provide an opening suited to the required bead width. Load the cartridge into a compatible sealant gun.
Apply the caulk in a steady, continuous bead, ensuring good contact with both sides of the joint. Avoid leaving gaps or trapping air. For clean edges, apply masking tape to the surrounding surfaces before filling.
Tool the fresh caulk immediately using a suitable finishing tool or a dampened applicator. Smooth the bead firmly into the joint and remove excess material before a skin begins to form. Remove masking tape straight after tooling.
Do not use excessive water during finishing, as this may weaken the surface or affect the final appearance. A lightly dampened tool is normally sufficient to create a smooth finish.
Filling deeper gaps
Everflex Contract 125 is most effective for relatively narrow decorating joints and surface cracks. Deep gaps should be reduced using an appropriate backing material before the caulk is applied. This controls the application depth, reduces product use and encourages more even drying.
Very large holes, damaged plaster and deep static repairs should be treated with a purpose-made interior filler or repair plaster. The finished repair may then be caulked at the moving junction if required.
Painting the caulk
Allow the applied product to develop a suitable surface before painting. Under normal conditions, most decorative paints can be applied after approximately one hour. Thicker beads or less favourable conditions will require additional drying time.
Apply the paint across the caulk and surrounding surface using normal decorating techniques. If the joint is expected to move significantly, a thick or inflexible paint film may crack even though the caulk beneath remains flexible.
The dried product should be painted because decorators’ caulk is not intended to provide a final decorative or weather-resistant surface on its own.
Cleaning and storage
Remove fresh, uncured caulk from tools and adjacent surfaces with clean water. Complete cleaning promptly because dried material will generally require careful mechanical removal. Test any cleaning method on delicate finishes before proceeding.
Keep the product in its original packaging and store it in cool, dry conditions. Protect it from frost, excessive heat and direct sunlight. Replace the cap or seal the nozzle when retaining a partially used cartridge, although previously opened material may have a reduced storage life.
Important limitations
Everflex Contract 125 is intended primarily for internal decorating applications. It is not suitable for areas exposed to continuous water, permanently damp joints or exterior weathering unless the current manufacturer data specifically approves the application.
Do not use it as a glazing sealant, sanitary silicone, structural adhesive or expansion-joint sealant. It is unsuitable for aquariums, food-contact areas and joints requiring a fully waterproof seal.
The product should not be applied to bituminous surfaces, cured silicone or materials that release oil or plasticisers. Test it before use on unusual plastics, coated surfaces or valuable finishes.
