Everbuild Fire Foam B2 Hand Held 750ml

Everbuild Fire Foam B2 Hand Held 750ml is a quick-setting, one-part polyurethane expanding foam with fire-resistant properties. Supplied with a handheld applicator nozzle, it can be used without a separate professional foam gun, making it a convenient solution for individual installations, maintenance work and occasional fire-resistant gap-filling applications.

The foam expands approximately 1.5 to two times its applied volume, allowing it to fill deep, broad and irregular gaps that conventional fillers may struggle to reach. Once cured, it creates a durable foam with useful thermal-insulating and sound-deadening properties. The pink colour makes the installed product easy to identify during inspection and finishing work.

Everbuild Fire Foam B2 is fire rated for up to two hours in certain tested joint configurations. The actual fire performance depends on factors including joint dimensions, surrounding materials, installation depth and the complete fire-stopping system. The foam should therefore only be described or relied upon as providing a particular fire rating when it has been installed in accordance with the relevant test evidence and project specification.

Convenient Handheld Application

This handheld version is supplied for application through an attached nozzle or straw. It does not require a separate applicator gun, making it well suited to smaller jobs, one-off applications and areas where setting up or cleaning a professional foam gun would be unnecessary.

The can should be shaken thoroughly before use and operated upside down. The handheld applicator provides controlled dispensing directly into the required gap. As the foam expands after application, cavities should only be partially filled to avoid unnecessary waste and excessive pressure against surrounding components.

For frequent use or jobs requiring greater bead control, the separate Everbuild B2 Gun Grade Fire Foam may be more appropriate. The handheld version remains an effective choice when convenience and immediate application are the main requirements.

Typical Filling Applications

Everbuild Fire Foam B2 Hand Held can be used for a variety of filling and sealing tasks, including:

  • Filling gaps around pipe entries through suitable fire-rated walls
  • Sealing around window and door frames
  • Filling electrical wire chases before plastering
  • Filling deep joints before applying sealant or plaster
  • Closing irregular gaps in brick, stone, concrete or plaster
  • Filling cavities and difficult-to-reach voids

When the foam is used around a service penetration or within a fire-rated wall, the dimensions and construction of the complete joint must correspond with an approved or tested system. Expanding foam should not be assumed to restore the original fire performance of a wall or floor in every possible configuration.

Fixing and Insulating

In addition to filling gaps, the foam can assist with fixing suitably supported door frames, window frames, windowsills, thresholds and lightweight timber structures. Frames and other components must remain mechanically supported until the foam is completely cured. Structural and safety-critical components will normally require appropriate mechanical fixings in addition to foam.

The cured material provides thermal-insulating and sound-deadening properties, making it useful behind exterior wall cladding, soffits and bargeboards. It can help reduce air movement through irregular gaps and limit sound transmission through small voids. Its insulation performance will depend on the quality, continuity and depth of the completed fill.

Fire-Resistance Performance

Everbuild Fire Foam B2 has a B2 building-material classification under DIN 4102 Part 1 and has been tested for fire resistance under recognised test conditions. It can provide up to two hours of fire resistance in certain joint configurations.

This does not mean that every application automatically provides two hours of protection. Fire resistance applies only to specified joint sizes, substrates and installation arrangements covered by the relevant test report. For regulated fire-stopping work, consult the project specification and current manufacturer documentation before installation.

When used as part of a fire-rated joint, the manufacturer recommends combining the foam with Everbuild FIREMATE Intumescent Sealant where required to achieve the maximum tested performance. All components within the system must be correctly selected and applied.

Expansion, Curing and Finishing

A 750ml can can produce up to approximately 40 litres of expanded foam, although actual yield will depend on temperature, humidity, application technique and joint dimensions. The foam has a medium-fine cell structure and expands after dispensing to occupy the available space.

Under suitable conditions, the product becomes tack-free in approximately eight minutes. Cutting time ranges from around 20 minutes to one hour, depending on the bead dimensions and application conditions. A 20mm bead may take approximately 12 hours to achieve full load-bearing stability.

Once sufficiently cured, the foam can be cut, sawn or plastered over. Exposed polyurethane foam should be covered with a suitable finishing material where protection from sunlight, weathering, impact or fire-system requirements is necessary.

Surface Preparation

Surfaces should be clean, sound and free from dust, grease, oil and loose particles. Remove weak material that could interfere with adhesion. Lightly moistening the surface with clean water before application helps activate the moisture-curing process and can improve foam structure and expansion.

Do not leave standing water in the cavity. Protect surrounding areas because uncured foam can be difficult to remove from decorative finishes, fabrics and skin.

How to Apply Everbuild Fire Foam B2

  1. Read the product label, safety information and relevant fire-test documentation.
  2. Wear suitable protective gloves, eye protection and work clothing.
  3. Ensure the application area is well ventilated.
  4. Clean the surfaces and lightly moisten them with water.
  5. Shake the can vigorously approximately 20 times before use.
  6. Carefully attach the supplied handheld nozzle without overtightening it.
  7. Hold and operate the aerosol can upside down.
  8. Apply the foam in controlled amounts, only partially filling the cavity.
  9. Allow the foam to expand and fill the remaining space.
  10. Remove excess uncured material using Everbuild Dual Purpose Foam Cleaner.
  11. Allow the foam to cure before cutting, sawing or plastering.
  12. Clean the nozzle and valve immediately if the can is intended for reuse.

Large or deep cavities should be filled carefully in suitable layers where necessary. Light moisture can be applied between layers to assist curing. Avoid applying one excessive mass of foam, as the centre may take much longer to cure.

Cleaning and Reuse

Uncured foam can be removed using Everbuild Dual Purpose Foam Cleaner. Once cured, it can only be removed mechanically. Do not use aggressive mechanical methods on the skin, as they may cause injury.

Reuse is only possible if the applicator nozzle and valve tip are thoroughly cleaned before the foam cures. Never insert tools or other objects into the valve because the container is pressurised and may rupture or explode.

Application Temperatures

The recommended ambient application range is approximately +5°C to +30°C, with around 20°C considered ideal. Product and surface temperatures affect expansion, cell structure, curing speed and final yield. The cured foam has a stated long-term service-temperature range of approximately -40°C to +80°C.

Safety and Storage

This product contains a pressurised, flammable polyurethane foam formulation. Use only in a well-ventilated location and keep it away from flames, sparks, hot surfaces and other ignition sources. Always wear protective gloves and suitable eye protection.

Store the can upright between approximately 20°C and 25°C, protected from frost and direct sunlight. Do not expose it to temperatures above 50°C, and do not pierce or burn the container even after use. When transporting the can in a vehicle, keep it secured upright in the boot and away from heat or sunlight.

Practical Fire-Resistant Gap Filling

Its controlled expansion, quick cutting time and thermal and acoustic properties make it suitable for numerous construction and maintenance tasks. When installed as part of an approved joint arrangement, it can also contribute up to two hours of tested fire resistance.
