Everbuild Pinkgrip Solvent Free Adhesive 350ml
Everbuild Pinkgrip Solvent Free Adhesive 350ml is a high-grab, water-based construction adhesive developed for fixing a wide range of materials to suitable porous surfaces. It offers the strong initial hold associated with the Pinkgrip range while providing a solvent-free, low-odour formulation that is particularly convenient for indoor work. Suitable for professional construction, refurbishment, joinery and DIY projects, it provides a straightforward alternative to nails and screws in many non-structural fixing applications.
Unlike the original solvent-based Pinkgrip adhesive, this version can be used with solvent-sensitive materials such as expanded polystyrene. This makes it a versatile option for fixing decorative polystyrene mouldings, coving, insulation products and other compatible lightweight components. Its thick, gap-filling consistency also helps compensate for minor imperfections where the adjoining surfaces are not completely flat.
High initial grab
Everbuild Pinkgrip Solvent Free Adhesive is designed to grip materials quickly after they are brought together. This strong initial hold helps reduce slipping and movement while the adhesive cures. In many straightforward applications, it can also reduce the need for temporary pins, battens or supports, although heavy items and safety-critical components must always be supported or mechanically fixed as required.
The non-slump consistency is particularly useful when working on vertical surfaces. Applied beads stay in position instead of running down the background, providing the installer with better control over placement and coverage. Components should still be positioned carefully because the high initial grab may make significant adjustment more difficult once firm pressure has been applied.
Solvent-free and low-odour formulation
As a water-based adhesive, Pinkgrip Solvent Free produces considerably less odour than a traditional solvent-based grab adhesive. This makes it a practical choice for occupied properties, interior refurbishment and projects where ventilation may be limited. Normal ventilation should still be maintained, and the safety information provided on the cartridge must be followed throughout application.
The absence of aggressive solvents also allows the adhesive to be considered for a broader selection of compatible materials. This includes expanded polystyrene, which can be damaged by many solvent-based products. Users should nevertheless complete a small compatibility test before bonding unfamiliar plastics, coatings, decorative finishes or valuable materials.
Typical applications
Everbuild Pinkgrip Solvent Free Adhesive 350ml can be used for a variety of general fixing tasks. Common applications include attaching skirting boards, architraves, dado rails, timber battens, decorative wall panels, plasterboard, carpet grippers and lightweight mouldings. It can also be used to install suitable polystyrene coving, ceiling roses, insulation boards and other decorative products.
The adhesive bonds to many familiar building surfaces, including timber, plaster, plasterboard, brick, blockwork, concrete and masonry. At least one of the surfaces should be porous so that moisture can escape from the water-based formulation and the adhesive can dry correctly. Bonding two non-porous materials together may result in extremely slow drying or an incomplete bond.
Preparing the surfaces
Good preparation is essential for reliable adhesion. Both surfaces should be sound, clean and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil, loose paint or other contamination. Flaking coatings and unstable material must be removed. Very dusty or highly absorbent backgrounds may need appropriate preparation before the adhesive is applied.
Although the product can fill small gaps and accommodate slightly uneven surfaces, it should not be relied upon to bridge substantial voids. Larger defects should be repaired and allowed to dry before installation. The background must also be capable of supporting the weight of the material being attached.
How to apply Pinkgrip Solvent Free
Cut the end of the cartridge carefully, attach the nozzle and trim it to the required bead width. Place the cartridge into a compatible sealant gun and apply the adhesive in continuous beads or evenly distributed spots. When bonding larger sheets or panels, arrange the beads so that air can circulate and moisture can escape rather than coating the whole surface with an unbroken layer.
Position the component and press it firmly against the background, using a gentle twisting action where appropriate to spread the adhesive and establish complete contact. Check the alignment immediately and clean away surplus adhesive before it dries. Temporary support should be provided where the item is heavy, under stress or likely to move while the bond develops.
Drying time will vary according to temperature, humidity, ventilation, bead thickness and the porosity of the materials. Warm, well-ventilated conditions and absorbent surfaces generally encourage faster drying. Cold environments, thick adhesive beds or less porous substrates will extend the time required for the bond to develop.
Cleaning and finishing
Fresh, uncured adhesive can generally be removed using water, subject to the finish and suitability of the surrounding surface. Tools should be cleaned promptly after use because cured adhesive may require mechanical removal. Any exposed adhesive should be finished neatly before it begins to dry.
After installation, avoid placing the joint under load until the adhesive has developed adequate strength. Where the bonded materials will be painted or decorated, allow the product to dry fully and test the chosen coating on a small area first.
Important limitations
Pinkgrip Solvent Free is intended for suitable non-structural bonding work. It should not be treated as a replacement for structural anchors, safety fixings or mechanical support where these are required. It is also unsuitable for continuously submerged applications, permanently wet locations or surfaces contaminated with oil, bitumen or release agents.
Do not use the adhesive to bond two completely non-porous surfaces. Care should also be taken with mirrors, flexible plastics, plasticised PVC, natural stone and materials that may be affected by moisture or staining. Consult the latest manufacturer instructions and perform a test application whenever compatibility is uncertain.
